The specified rules of each tournament are to govern each individual tournament and accordingly all participants shall follow those rules per tournament. Further, the final standings and results of each tournament are based on the final results submitted by the tournament director/committee from each tournament, the following are the general rules for the South Florida Sailfish Series and the South Florida Sailfish Circuit and South Florida Sailfish Tournament Trail:

ENTRY:
The South Florida Sailfish Series (SFSS) and the South Florida Sailfish Circuit and South Florida Sailfish Tournament Trail consist collectively of 14 separate and individual tournaments. Any team/boat who participates in any SFSS sanctioned tournament during the year will accrue points based off the final results from each individual tournament fished of the series. Teams are not required to fish all the Tournaments in the Series but are encouraged to do so in order to accrue the most points, the final standings of the South Florida Sailfish Series will be based off of the total points accrued from each teams best 5 performances throughout the series. There is no entry fee for the Series. The South Florida Sailfish Series is broken into (2) two regions or divisions: Miami and Keys. The Miami Division will be comprised of the following tournaments: The Florida Yachts International Sailfish Kickoff, The Capt Bob Lewis Billfish Challenge, The Miami Mayors Cup, The ABC/WDS Sailfish Challenge, The Florida Billfish Masters, The Yamaha Contender Miami Billfish Tournament, The Sailfish Tournament and the Kevin Llorente K-Rock Classic. The Keys Division will be comprised of the following tournaments: The Cheeca Lodge Presidential Sailfish Tournament, The Key Largo Sailfish Challenge, The Islamorada Sailfish Tournament, The Islamorada Fishing Club Captains Cup Sailfish Tournament and the Captain Don Gurgiolo Sailfish Classic. The South Florida Sailfish Series encompasses the Libertad Challenge, Atlantico Billfish Championship Series, and The Gold Cup Series combined, in an attempt to rank the teams and determine the best overall series performance. The Final Series Standings of South Florida Sailfish Series and Overall Series Rankings take a team's 5 best performances across the Miami and Keys tournament trails. A team receives points for each top tournament finish that they receive. The Points are awarded to the top 15 teams based off their tournament finish and are differentiated by the size of the event/tournament field (i.e. # of boats/teams) as follows:

Class 1 tournament consists of 51 or more teams/boats.
Class 2 tournament consists of between 31 and 50 teams/boats.
Class 3 tournament consists of 30 teams/boats or less.

RIGHT OF REFUSAL:
The SFSS committee explicitly reserves the right to refuse series entry from any prospective entrant, with or without cause at its sole discretion. SFSS and each and all individual tournament rules will be strictly enforced and adhered to, and all decisions of the SFSS Director will be final and based off the final results per tournament. Any angler(s), captain(s), or mate(s) found to be in any violation of any tournament rule may be disqualified from this series.

This is an OPEN EVENT: Professional guides, captains, and mates are eligible to participate. Team members that qualify for the South Florida Sailfish Series Championship MUST be 21 years of age or older.

A boat may be changed throughout the season from tournament to tournament at that teams discretion, but once a boat is entered into a tournament, it must be fished for the entire tournament. A boat may only be changed during a tournament after approval is received from the individual Rules Committee of that tournament. Teams or Boats cannot share points or transfer points, this rule is intended to have the same teams/boats accrue points based off the performance of the same team members fishing together consecutively throughout the series. Teams may fish on different boats and consist of different members, but at least 3 members MUST be the same for all tournaments in order for the points to count for that team. The Team points will be determined based on the Team Name or Boat Name entered per tournament.

The SFSS Team, which accrues the highest total points at the end of the SFSS will be crowned the overall South Florida Sailfish Series Champion. This is a winner take all event, the final overall series championship team will receive the 2009-2010 South Florida Sailfish Series Championship Belt.

In case of a tie in the overall standings, which ever team caught the last fish first of the last tournament will act as the tie breaker.




South Florida Sailfish Series Scoring System:
The SFSS will rank teams based of their overall finish per tournament and the Series rankings
will be determined in accordance with the following SFSS Points/Scoring System:

All Rules are subject to change by the SFSS Rules Committee. Each team that enters the series and fishes any tournament in the series shall abide by the Laws of the State of Florida and assume any and all risk associated therein.
