SFSS Crew Challenge
- Entry: $200.00
- Crew: 4 in the Pit and one Captain
- Overview: 4 crew members in the pit will put out a full spread of six lines with six live baits suspended from a kite. This is a timed event from the time the kite leaves the mates hand till the last bait is trimmed up in an optimal live bait scenario.
- Rules
- Boat: Open Fisherman or Sport fish Boats Allowed
- Mates cannot release kites till boat has come to a complete stop. Once this has happed you may release kite. (At no time during the timed event may the Captain advance the throttles past forward or reverse idle speed.)
- Captain is allowed to touch the helm and the throttles ONLY.
- Crew: 4 previously designated members may touch any of the equipment involved to complete the task at hand.
- Equipment and Tackle.
- Minimum distance between kite and long clip is 150 ft. Minimum distance between clips will be 100 feet, with a mark 100 feet from the short clip that must touch tip of kite rod for full spread dispersal.
- Clips must not be locked down, and set according to fishable conditions.
- 15 foot leaders required.
- Line Marker Corks are required.
- Rigging:
- The two long baits must be Live Goggle Eyes bridled in the back. (Baits may not be bridled till mate releases kite from hand)
- The rest of the baits may be live Threads or Sardines hooked in the back of the fish NO nose hooking. (These baits do not have to be bridled)
- Video:
- This event will be judged from a running video that must start when boat is at a stand still. Video will not stop until the 100 foot mark past the short clip touches the rod tip. At this time the cameraman will video this and the clock will stop.
- Cameraman must put camera zoom as wide as possible to record both kite rods during deployment. It must be confirmed on tape that no baits were bridled or hooked prior to the mate releasing the kite.
- Tournament Style and validation:
- Each team must submit their video with a $200 dollar entry fee, individual photos of crew involved via mail to 9875 sw 141 st Miami, fl 33176
- The top 14 teams will have their video displayed on the SFSS website and will compete in at bracket style single elimination competition.
- Seeds will be awarded based on original times.
- Each round of the playoffs will be a new video that must be submitted to the SFSS judges until we have a champion.
- Payouts will be as follows: 1st place 80% of Entry Purse 2nd Place will be 20% of Entry Purse.
- Weather and Location:
- You must let the SFSS judges know the date of your video entry. Bouy readings may not read higher than 20 knots of steady wind at the time video is done.
Boats may deploy their spread in the bay to cut down on fuel costs so they do not have to make a trip to the edge just to film a spread deployment.
